Jonathan Kwegyir Aggrey, nacido en 1984, es licenciado en Educación Artística (Bachelor of Arts) por la Universidad de Educación de Winneba (Ghana).
Jonathan ha tenido el privilegio de exponer y participar en numerosas exposiciones colectivas e individuales en varios países, como Ghana, Turquía, Rumanía, China, Tailandia, Colombia, México, Kosovo, Nigeria, Italia, Francia, Noruega, Corea del Sur, Malasia, Vietnam, Pakistán, Albania, Estados Unidos y Rusia.
También ha aparecido en varios catálogos y publicaciones internacionales importantes de todo el mundo.

«Para mí, la pintura es el mejor medio para expresar mis sentimientos más profundos sobre cómo y qué pienso y siento al retratar las bellezas de la naturaleza.
Mi obra demuestra mi profundo conocimiento de la pintura, principalmente en acuarela. Mis temas varían en función de lo estimulante e inspirador que sea el tema para mi creatividad. Me encanta pintar
Me gusta pintar temas que me atraen y encontrar un tema no es difícil: el tema parece encontrarme a mí, el tema me encuentra a mí. Observar, pasear, dibujar, hacer fotos… todo ello ofrece oportunidades creativas.
Veo la aplicación del medio en función del tema. Pueden ser lavados sueltos o muy difuminados con muchos detalles, o una combinación de bordes perdidos y encontrados, como en los bordes suaves y duros. Dejo que mi creatividad fluya durante todo el proceso de trabajo sin limitarme a ningún material de referencia, ya sea del natural, de una foto o de mi imaginación.
Siempre intento establecer una conexión entre mis obras y mis espectadores para que puedan contar sus propias historias a partir de mis obras. Me encanta pintar personas y lugares para mostrar a mi variado público la otra cara del mundo en que vivo.»

Artist Statement
«For me, painting is the best medium for expressing my deepest feeling about how and what I think and feel about portraying the beauties of nature.
My work demonstrates my in-depth understanding of painting, largely in watercolor. Watercolor is the best medium for expressing my deepest feeling about how and what I think and feel about portraying the beauties of nature. My themes vary depending on how challenging and inspiring the subject appeals to my creativity. I love to paint
subjects that attract me and finding a subject is not difficult – the subject seems to find me. Observing, walking, sketching, taking photos-all these offer creative opportunities.
I vary my application of the medium depending on the subject at hand. This could either be loose washes or very fuzzy with a lot of details or a combination of lost and found edges as in soft and hard edges. I allow my creativity to flow throughout the working process without restricting myself to any reference materials either from life, a photo or my imagination.
I always try to establish a connection between my works and my viewers to enable them to tell their own stories from my works. I love to paint people and places to show my varied audience the other side of the world I live in.»
